You CAN use MS Word to write your eBay auctions!
To do it you need to do two simple things.
First:
When NOT
in "Normal View" MS Word adds specialized codes to your document that
you can't use in an eBay auction. To prevent this move your cursor to
the lower left of your MS Word screen and click on the little square
that is called "Normal View" this will solve many problems. Always write your eBay auctions in Normal View.
Second:
MS Word likes to use fancy apostrophes and quotation marks that they
call "smart quotes" (they curl in). The apostrophes and quotation marks
are "smart quotes" to MS Word but eBay doesn't see it that way. You
need the plain vertical quotes that you get when you set MS Word to use
"Straight quotes" in your document.
Depending on your version of MS Word you will need to click on:
Tools > AutoCorrect > "AutoFormat as you type" then you need to Uncheck "Straight quotes" with "smart quotes"
Or you may find the path for your version of MS Word is:
Format> AutoFormat> Options> "Replace as you type" and UNcheck "Straight quotes" with "smart quotes"
I use MS Word in Normal View (with "smart quotes" turned OFF) for all my auctions and have no problems. This document is courtesy of Desertdave, Thanks!
