FrontPage Use

  • You can use FrontPage 98 for your auction ads and it works very well. There are some misconceptions and erroneous information on the boards. At the bottom of FrontPage editor you have three modes: Normal, HTML, and Preview.

  • After you have your webpage the way you want, use the html mode go to edit/select all - copy - and paste to an untitled page in notepad. Remove everything from the very top down through </head>.
    Go to the bottom and remove </body> </html>. You can then copy what is left to your description box However:

  • You will find that your url's will use relative addressing and alt url's. These will have to be changed to absolute addressing, for example,
    <img src=http://www.bulls2.com/bob/bobcolor.gif>
    Erase your alt url.
    These url's will cause the dreaded broken image in frontpage editor unless you are connected to the internet and frontpage editor can access this picture from the internet.
  • You will also have to use absolute addressing with your any links you use.

  • Very important. create your own templates and save them as text files and NOT templates. DO NOT use shared borders or any front page templates. Period.

  • It will take a little practice but learning to use this very good WYSWIG editor will pay great dividends. Test all your work in Preview in Browser, I have both Netscape and Mise browsers in front page. Above all, persevere.
