This is a collection of tips that may help you in your computing.


  1. Here are the tags that you cannot use in your description on eBay auctions.

  2. Its best not to use any quotation " marks " in your HTML code for eBay auctions. If you need to use quotes, such as for an ALT tag or the name of a font with spaces in it, make sure to use them in pairs or things will have a tendency to "disappear".


  3. Not For Mac Users

    To increase or decrease your Font size
    Using Netscape 7.1, hold down your CTRL key and press + or - on your keypad.

    Using Internet Explorer, hold down your CTRL key and roll your wheel on your mouse forward or backward.


  4. AOL Users, few tips that may help you to get more bids.

    AOL doesn't use WWW in their URL'S so never put them in because eBay cannot get the Gallery images if you do.


  5. I see quite a few of you AOL users placing a Colon : in the url after .com, this will stop several browsers from seeing your pictures and it is not needed.

  9. When naming your images, keep the name short, only you will see it. Use all lowercase letters, saves many headaches.
    Don't use any characters like # $ % ^ & * @ this messes up the files and "Never" have a space, many browsers will not recognize it as a picture file, if you really need two words, use a dash - or an underscore_
    Make sure that they are saved as jpg or gif images


  10. Someone Using Your Pictures Without Permission?

    If you find out that another user has taken your pictures or even using your whole text and images, here is what you can do.
    I suggest that you send them a kindly e-mail stating that it is against eBays rules to use anothers property without permission. Ask them to please remove them from their auction or you will be forced to turn them in to eBay. Send them a copy of the Infringment Rules
    If they refuse, be sure to contact eBay by the Report


  11. In order to have the in your listings, you need to have a picture in the first box or the first browse box if you are using eBays Picture Service. If you are hosting your own, add a url in the Picture URL Box on the listing form or just place a checkmark in the box at the bottom of the form. You can only add one if you do NOT have any bids. You need to go to the Revise Link.
    It can take up to a couple of hours before you see the change, it has to be indexed.


  12. Gallery thumbnails are replaced by the before the gallery thumbnail is created. Typically, that thumbnail is created before the item makes it onto the search and listings pages.
    However, the seller's other items page shows items immediately after they are listed. You are seeing items with gallery that have not yet had a gallery thumbnail created, and that is the replacement image showin place of a broken image. The Gallery Image will still appear on those a short while after listing. You may see some photos take longer to show up. Some catagories take a lot longer, like Collectables.
    To make sure that you are seeing the latest upload, Hold down your Shift Key while refreshing your page.


  13. Browser Will Only Save Gifs As BMP's ?

    Because of a glitch, Internet Explorer can cause .gif images to be downloaded as .bmp files. This happens when IE's temporary internet files (cache) fills up. To correct the problem, simply go to Internet options in your control panel and choose delete files in the Temporary Internet Files area.

  16. Gallery Images In Turbo Lister

    Using eBay as your host, on page 3, lower right, under Listing Upgrade, click on Change. Then select Gallery.
    If you are hosting your own pictures, follow these directions.
    On the 2nd page, lower left, select add/manage photos, then on the lower left, change photo hosting, then to your own web hosting.
    Put in your url and then save. In the next screen in the lower right hand corner, click on Change, then check Gallery, then photo.
    Insert your Gallery url, then insert, OK, and you are done

  18. Error Codes

    The SD means, it can be almost anything that gets in the way of the connection to the server, including some popup stoppers, ad busters, firewalls. The FB is just that you are using the enhanced, the 003 is also as above, a connection problem.

    Have a look at this, Nortons internet security 2002 (NOT 2003) often gets SDFB or SD errors. running live update multiple times rebooting after each solves that usually AdSubtract causes SD and SDFB errors -- solution, turn it off. it think the JS file that runs EPS is an ad -- it isn't


    ERROR SDFB013 means Missing protocol values for MSA usually caused by third party software (firewall like Zone Alarm Pro) stripping headers. Members should look for a setting like "do not send anonymous headers" and disable that.


    ERROR MEFB-003 means:
    miscellaneous error, enhanced upload. most common occurrence is relist or revising an item where the EPS image files have been deleted (by eBay after 90 days since the last relist -- etc.) or by the member deleting the picture from their Picture Manager subscription.

  26. A Mouseover With Text Messaging Free

    Here is a free program to help you with making a mouseover that when you drag your mouse to the thumbnail image, you can have a message pop up and then click on the image and it will go to the full sized Image.
    It does not work for Netscape users which is less than 10% of the browsers.
    You will need to have thumbnail images to use, here is an easy place to get them. Irfanview-------------- Go to File, thumbnails, Select your image(s), go to File, "Save selected thumbs as single images".

  27. Hide Your Taskbar

    How would you like to hide your Task bar until you want it? Right click on a blank space on the taskbar itself, then on properties. A window will open, check the " Auto Hide The Taskbar" Then OK, Enjoy.


  28. Print Screen Made Easy

    Here is a very easy way to capture just the area that you want to save. It is a Free program called ScreenPrint 32

    All you do is right click on the screen, you will hear a ping sound, when you do, place your cursor at one corner, hold down the left click and drag it until you have covered the area that you want to save.

    When it is correct, right click and select "Capture Selected Area". Now go to another Free program called IrfanView
    Select Edit, Paste, Your image or page will show. Go to File, SAVE AS, select the file where you want to save it and click on Save, all done.
